100 employees will be affected after the merger between Starkki and Puukeskus.
Last Friday Starkki and Puukeskus officially merged their companies into a single, DT Finland Oy.
Both Starkki and Puukeskus will remain as standalone brands.
But total staff will be reduced by about 100 people. Negotiations begin today. They primarily concerns administrative services and locations where both chains have stores and the company believes the market is not large enough.
The negotiations concerns Vaasa, Jyväskylä, Joensuu, Pori, Lappeenranta, Lohja, Helsinki and Turku staff as well as the Stark chain management and Puukeskus head office functions.
CEO Juha-Pekka Pöntisen told YLE that he does not yet know which offices and stores that ultimately will be affected.
The merge began in February and has been subject to regulatory approvals.
