SuperBest took home two prices as Børsen’s Taste price in 2014 was presented by Food Minister Dan Jørgensen on Sølyst in Klampenborg.
The newspaper Børsen’s prize Smagpriset, an offshoot of the Børsen Food Prize, is awarded annually by an expert jury and provided for the most tasteful products that can be purchased in general stores.
SuperBest got this year rates for the Boeuf Bourgignon that restaurant chain Cofoco has developed exclusively for SuperBest, and for Urtekram eco-ketchup, which is also found in the country’s Super Best stores.
“We are really pleased to experts recognition of our work with quality food, good, easy meals and special items. Many customers ask for items that can and want a little extra. And I can promise that we will continue our focus on quality to consumers when we next year converts SuperBest into MENY, “says Jørgen Nielsen, chain director in SuperBest and future director of the Merchant House and MENY.
The jury were chefs from some of the country’s most acclaimed restaurants; Søren Gericke, Francis Cardenau Per Thøstesen, Mikkel Maarbjerg, Rasmus Grønbech and Jeppe Foldager.
“The jury was thrilled with the pure taste of the two products, each of which shows how well a product can be in the genre. It is gratifying that such products are so widely available as is the case – for example. in Superbest. Previously, you had to go to specialty stores to find something as narrow as an organic gourmet ketchup, or a cooked dish with so fine taste as is the case with SuperBest Boeuf Bougignon from Cofoco, “says Ole Troelsø, Børsen’s gastronomy editor.
