The new center of Mölndal outside Gothenburg has experienced some problems on the way.

But now, three years before opening, the new developer Citycon presents fifteen new tenants to Mölndal Galleria.

Steen & Ström cancelled the planned development due to conflicts with the municipality and other entrepreneurs. Citycon stepped in with plans for 70 stores spread over 24,000 square meters and 650 parking spaces.

2018 inaugurated new Mölndal Galleria and can already Citycon presenting fifteen tenants such as H & M, Systembolaget and Lindex. A large restaurant offering, groceries, fashion and service will make Mölndal Galleria an attractive venue with Citycon as an active owner, developer and manager.

Citycon’s total investment is estimated at around 1.1 billion SEK (120 million EUR). Overall, 3.5 billion is invested in the transformation of Mölndal city center into a modern city center with a wide range of commercial, residential and offices.

”Citycon’s strategy is to focus on central locations in major cities and Mölndal’s position as a major hub in the region is ideal. Here we will create an accessible and pleasant neighborhood center that meet people’s everyday needs,” says Nils Styf, investment manager at Citycon.

The new mall will be designed as an integral part of the inner city. Several entrances and storefronts both inwardly and outwardly gives a vivid cityscape. The mall will have a wide selection of restaurants with a focus on the western square. The center is anchored at the other end with Systembolaget and a major grocery store on 3200 square meters. H&M’s store will cover 2,900 square meters. Other official tenants are Lindex, Kjell & Company, Apoteket and Synsam.

NCC  works together with Citycon in a joint project company for the development, leasing and construction of Mölndal Galleria. Citycon will acquire NCC’s half share in the mall when the project is completed.
