The Danish fashion king, Anders Holch Povlsen, has already stepped into Nemlig.com. Now he makes H & M’s CEO Karl-Johan Persson company and also becomes a major shareholder in the Swedish grocery trade online by investing 207 million SEK in Mathem.

”It is difficult to find a more attractive European investor in terms of e-commerce,” says Tomas Kull, CEO and founder of Mathem.se

Anders Holch Povlsen is already among other investors in two of Europe’s largest e-commerce company in clothes and fashion – Zalando and Asos. But he has also gone into MatHems Danish counterpart, Nemlig.com.

“Anders Holch Povlsen has tremendous knowledge of e-commerce. Therefore, we are of course very pleased that he sees the great potential and goes in so heavily in MatHem. We have only seen the beginning of a journey where more and more of people’s food purchases are handled from the sofa or via mobile phone, instead of spending hours of carrying and queuing in a supermarket, ” says Tomas Kull, CEO and founder of MatHem.se.

For 207 million SEK he gets a stake of about 20 percent in Mathem. Venture capital company Verdane Capital controls 40 percent of the company and then comes the founders Thomas and Caroline Kull, H & M CEO Karl-Johan Persson and financier Erik Mitteregger.

Mathem’s sales in the first quarter grew by 84 percent, and landed at 173 million SEK. The strong inflow of customers has made MatHem increasing its workforce to about 700 people, writes E-handel.se
