Axfood’s interim report for Q3 is the best ever.
”All divisions contribute”, comments CEO Anders Strålman who looks forward to six new store openings this year.
Sales in the third quarter increased 3.1 percent.
Retail sales for Group-owned stores increased by 2.3 percent during the period. Like-for-like sales increased by 0.9%.
Operating profit for the period was 453 million SEK (382).
Willys continued to post stable sales growth. But like-for-like sales growth has been weaker as a result of a dampened market with low inflation. Five new stores are set to open.
More than 1.5 million customers are now enrolled in the digital customer program.
”The programme is a strategically important future investment in further stimulating sales and strengthening customer relationships and offerings”, says Anders Strålman.
Hemköp has had very good performance in the important Stockholm region.
The favourable summer weather had a positive impact on Axfood Närlivs and, as previously, growth for Axfood Snabbgross was very good. Dagab’s new business system was implemented a year ago. As the implementation has been completed, efficiency has increased.
”We are pursuing an ambitious pace of establishment, with six new stores set to open during the coming quarter. Parallel with this, the work on developing the customer programmes and the business system continues, which is a key part in our work to ensure continued profitable growth”, says Anders Strålman.
Total investments in 2014 are expected to be around 700 million SEK.
Axfood’s estimation is that profit for 2014 will exceed the level achieved in 2013.
