Bestseller continues the acquisition-strategy.

Now the troubled shoe-chain Bianco becomes a part of Anders Holch Povlsen’s fashion empire.

He says an expansion of Bianco’s online and wholesale business is on the list.

Bianco Footwear has more than 140 shops in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, the Middle East, Poland, Germany and Denmark. The company was founded in 1987 and aim to offer the customers a fashionable alternative to costly designer shoes.

“We have known the founder behind Bianco Footwear for many years, and I know that we share many of the same ideas and beliefs. At several occasions over the past 15 years, we have discussed the possibility of a closer collaboration between Bestseller and Bianco, and now the time has come,” says Bestseller President Anders Holch Povlsen.

But two years ago, the chain was struggling. 72 stores were closed after a 66 million loss.

”Bianco Footwear is heading in the right direction, and I hope that we can help the company expand its wholesale and online businesses. Moreover, I trust that a closer collaboration will become beneficial for both Bestseller and Bianco in the long run,” says Anders Holch Povlsen.

Bianco’s future owner circle consists of Anders Holch Povlsen, Detlev Meyer and René Piper

The business synergies and economy of scale will now be utilized to benefit Bianco’s activities within
retail, franchising, online and wholesale.

Bianco Footwear will continue as an independent brand with its own organisation and management, but Bestseller is taking over the majority share. Bianco will continue unchanged as an individual brand
with its own organization and management team including the chain office, in Kolding.

“We are proud of the Bestseller co-ownership which also will strengthen the competitive advantage
for our franchise partners as for our own stores. We are looking forward to seizing the future
together with the Bestseller-family” says René Piper Laursen.

The purchase is conditional on approval from the competition authority. This is expected to happen at the beginning of February 2016.
