Bygghemma takes over six of bankrupt chain Chilli’s stores, e-commerce and the brand itself.
“There is a healthy core in Chilli, but the chain grew too quickly”, says Bygghemma’s CEO Mikael Olander.
The acquisition will also create synergies with Trademax.
Last week Chilli filed for bankruptcy. The interior and furnitures chain then had 23 home furnishing stores and 150 employees around the country.
But according to Dagens Industri, there were speculators in the chain before the bankruptcy.
“We have kept an eye on them, as we usually do when we look at possible acquisitions. They grew too fast but we had no idea it would go like this “, says Mikael Olander, CEO of Bygghemma to the newspaper.
Thus, Bygghemma acted quickly and will now take over six of the largest stores, e-commerce and trademark Chilli.
“There is a very healthy core of Chilli. We feel confident that what we take over is viable, “says Mikael Olander.
Together with the existing chain Trademax, Bygghemma’s furniture sales will now reach a billion SEK next year which makes it a top actor in the Nordics.
Bygghemma is owned since November by Nordstjernan.
