Aleksi Virkkunen is the new Country Manager for Byggmax in Finland.
Now he needs to strengthen the Byggmax-brand in Finland.
”Byggmax is in the position as the challenger, which is a very good springboard to develop from,” says Virkkunen.
Virkkunen comes primarily from Rautakesko where he was responsible for the Rautia and K-rauta store concept in Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia and Russia.
Byggmax, who reported good results for the year 2014, continues to grow in Finland. In 2015, all Byggmax stores in Finland will be updated to the 2.0 concept.
”Byggmax opened its first store in Finland in 2008. Finland is a strategically important business for us because in Finland there is a strong DIY- and building culture. Now our business in Finland has grown to the point that we need more muscle to develop operations in Finland in the right direction. I am very pleased that we were able to recruit Aleksi Virkkunen to strengthen our Finnish team. Aleksi is the right man in the right place,” says Byggmax CEO Magnus Agervald.
”I think Byggmax biggest challenge in Finland is that the chain is not yet sufficiently known in combination with the Finns gridded habits and caution towards new players. Byggmax has a lot potential, which now will be fully realized and to get Finns to become familiar with the Byggmax concept,” said Aleksi Virkkunen.
The Country managerial position is new. With the appointment Byggmax strives to further consolidate its position in Finland as a worthy alternative.”
In 2014, Byggmax increased net sales by 10.3 percent to 3.5472 billion SEK. In the Finnish market, uncertainty remains about the economic development, which affects Byggmax operations in Finland. During 2014, Byggmax opened a store in Finland, Byggmax Pirkkala.
The long-term objective is to establish a retail network of 20-25 stores in Finland.
