Coop Forum in Stenhagen in Uppsala will be phased out.
Competition from the neighbor Ica Maxi became too hard.
“We have exhausted our ability to achieve profitability for this store,” says Regional Director Christian Wijkström.
Coop Forum Stenhagen opened its doors in 2010, but has for a long time has been unprofitable, says Coop’s press office.
It has previously been reported that competition from Ica Maxi in Stenhagen hit hard on the store.
According to the press shelter several initiatives to increase sales have been carried out, but this has not been enough.
On Monday morning Coop held a staff meeting where the staff, 29 full time and 19 part-time employees was informed. Last day open will be 20 February.
“Obviously, it is always sad to have to close a shop, but we can not continue to operate the stores without profitability. Competition is tough and we have exhausted our ability to achieve profitability for this store. We now focus on developing other stores in the area, “said Christian Wijkström Regional Director, Coop, in a press release.
