Coop Sweden divests two hypermarkets to Consumer cooperative association Göta.

After Coop Forum Jönköping and Coop Forum Kalmar has changed owner, the consumer association Göta will drive the majority of the Coop stores in Småland.

Göta will take over existing agreements against store employees, landlords and suppliers. The transfer takes place June 1, 2015th

”Hypermarkets get even better conditions to continue to evolve with Göta as owner. It is logical that they operate them as they are within their sphere of activity. This creates an even stronger regional competitiveness and it is good for the entire Coop,” says Anders Wennerberg, Regional Director South-East.

”Initially, we take over the business exactly as it is today, but we will in the near future investigate how the hypermarkets can be developed to become even stronger in their respective markets”, says Tord Rosenlund, CEO of the Consumer Association Gota.

The transfers are conditional to Competition Authority approval.
