The number of parcels passing by PostNord’s Stockholm-terminal is a good indicator on the e-commerce.
Tuesday, a new record was set. But the big difference is not the peak, it’s the extended higher level through the last weeks.
On Tuesday a new record for a single day was set when around 455 000 package passed by PostNord parcel terminals in Sweden. That’s about 30 000 more than the previous record from 2012.
The enormous throughput depends both on the country’s stores having busy days and a need to continuously fill up their shelves – and that the Swedes are shopping more Christmas presents online.
Compared to previous years, the parcel volumes remained at a very high level since late November.
On Tuesday struck postnord also a new record when it comes to goods letters.
PostNord’s forecast is that the Swedes will buy Christmas gifts on the internet for 4.9 billion SEK this year – an increase of 20 percent compared with 2013.
