Elgiganten expands its Swedish retail network with 18 new establishments and five upgrades.
“We see growth in all sales channels and can confirm that the physical stores, despite a strong digital trend, fills a very important role for the customers,” says Niclas Eriksson, CEO of Elgiganten.
More and more customers are now choosing click and collect and pick up their products within a few hours. That is an important reason for Elgiganten’s store expansion.
“Customers expect alternative delivery opportunities with express access to its new product today. 50 percent of all Internet orders are collect at store today. With new stores and several department stores we increase the level of service further to our customers locally, “says Niclas Eriksson.
The first start-up operations take place before the summer in Örnsköldsvik, Gislaved and Norrtälje. In the autumn will Partille and Ängelholm have a Elgiganten store.
“We have just closed the books for fiscal year 2015/2016 and can see that we are growing in all sales channels including retail operations, despite a shift toward the digital channels,” says Niclas Eriksson, CEO of Elgiganten.
He also believes that the development requires a physical presence in the retail chain.
“Unlike other retailers, we work with products that are becoming increasingly complex and which should also be linked to other products in the development of the digital home. Here we have an incredibly important role to play as many customers both want and need to talk to a knowledgeable salesperson before buying. Altogether this fills the physical stores with good service and skilled personnel, a very important function in our business, says Niclas Eriksson.
The substantial investment and the investment in new stores means that Elgiganten will have nearly 185 small shops and large department stores in malls, city centers and commercial areas within a year.
