Expert-chain in Denmark closes 30 stores – to open 25 new Mega-stores.
“We will grow and we will win – and therefore we clean up the parts of our business that are not profitable,” says CEO of Expert Retail Denmark, Jesper Boysen.
In an ad today all new Mega locations are revealed.
Expert Denmark A / S owned stores have high operating costs. 30 unprofitable stores will now be closed. Common to the shops to be shut over the next two years is that they are primarily located in expensive locations in major cities. The chain says in a statement that the chain’s own stores must be closed to prepare for up to 25 new stores.
”Our self-owned stores have simply too high operating costs, especially for rent, and there is no place for them in our future. We see increased competition and lower prices in the big cities. Therefore, costs must go down,” says Experts Jesper Boysen.
”We can open new who stores who makes money. It’s not bad news. It is good news”, says Jesper Boysen adding that the purchasing volume will rise with new “new branded” department stores and also be good for the dealers.
Experts leadership has informed all affected employees in the stores about the changes and are now working to minimize the impact on employees, writes chain.
The 30 stores currently employs approximately 200 employees.
So far, only one Mega store’s location has been known, in the Disa shopping centre in Herlev. But an advertising in today’s Børsen one can see that Expert is looking for store space for 24 other Mega stores. Here are the locations:
