Experts owners invest 400 million NOK in a five-year expansion plan.
In the package lies a comeback in Sweden.
2018, ten stores will be open in a new Swedish chain.
Last fall former Nordic Expert-CEO Lars Christensen hesitated about future plans in Sweden.
“We must first get the concept in place,” he told ScandinavianRetail.com and focused at large investments in Denmark and Finland. But he did not exclude that Sweden, for obvious reasons would return on the store map as the central warehouse is located in Sweden.
Now it seems like the concept is ready, although Expert has not yet begun its expansion in Denmark.
Yet, the cleaning up of the Expert has taken longer time than expected.
“Last year we became uncomfortable with the situation in Denmark. I discovered before the summer that our own stores were unprofitable. I should have seen that earlier, “says Ronny Blomseth in an interview with Today’s Naeringsliv.
32 stores closed in Denmark. Now waits a hard focus targeting 25 new and larger department stores. And most likely a Danish a clash with Blomseths former employer Elkjøp / Elgiganten where he was head three years ago. The Danish course chain in the operations set down last year’s results by NOK 150 million.
But the 400 million in the new group, where the bank (according to the interview in Dagens Naeringsliv) has contributed some concessions now also includes a comeback in Sweden.
Within three years, ten Swedish stores are said be established. The logistics are already in place with the Nordic central warehouse in Skillingaryd.
“If we hadn’t left Sweden last time, Expert would have been finished”, says Ronny Blomseth in DN.
