Hemköp chain opens a new eco-concept – next door to themselves – that sell prepared foods.
Hemköp Reko becomes a test with Hemköp’s own organic range, supplemented with organic and vegetarian products that have not been sold in grocery stores.
The shop opens at Torsplan in Stockholm, wall to wall with a Hemköp store.
According to a statement from Axfood there will be 300 different dry products and ready meals. 90 percent of the assortment is organic or so-called high class.
Hemköp Reko will also have a café with fair trade coffee from small-scale roastery Johan and Nyström. There will also be a selection of salads and prepared meals for people on the go.
The idea is that it will be a shop frequented after work.
Portions of this concept will then be rolled out to existing Hemköp stores.
The store manager Joseph Kennedy has a background at Whole Foods in Canada.
