A pilot project from ICA aims to develop a future way to shop for groceries online. With a digital lock installed on the door, the customer can get their food delivered all the way into the home and unpacked to the refrigerator even if the customer is not at home.
In 2016, online trade with groceries in Sweden is expected to grow by 38 percent and reach a turnover of 5.7 billion SEK.
ICA, PostNord and Glue now launches into-the-fridge supplies as a pilot project from this week.
Using Glue Smart Lock, the door to the house is opened and closed via a smartphone and it is possible to distribute digital keys to family, friends or business. In this way, the driver from PostNord with a digital key will pack up the goods from ICA. The customer does not have to fit any delivery time and do not need to unpack the goods.
”We are now exploring the future way to shop for groceries online and want to drive development forward. With this kind of service, we make customers’ lives easier,” says Anders Svensson, CEO of ICA Sweden.
