Adjusted for currency effects, total sales increased by 8.9 percent. Sales in comparable stores increased by 5.1 percent.

”We are growing in almost all markets and we are excited about this year’s sales performance. Our employees are doing a fantastic job developing and offering our customers good home furnishings at low prices in department stores and online,” says Peter Agnefjäll, President and CEO of the IKEA Group.

China continues to be the fastest growing market, followed by Russia. Germany had a record growth while North America continued to perform well. While southern Europe showed a positive development.

The majority of the growth comes from comparable stores. New stores combined with new digital solutions also contribute to the good result. IKEA range – especially the bedrooms and bathrooms – are appreciated by IKEA’s visitors. During 2015 IKEA Group opened 13 new department stores and three  pick-up points in Spain, Norway and Finland, where customers can see parts of the IKEA range and retrieve the ordered goods.

Also, IKEA Sweden is showing strong sales and increased by 8 percent from 13.8 billion SEK to 14.9 billion compared with the previous year. More employees who meet customers in department stores and more satisfied customers has contributed to the positive development.

”The investment in staff has been a key part of our success. We work constantly to create a better IKEA experience and we can see a clear correlation between more employees that meet customer and customer satisfaction. A positive trend that shows that we are on the right track,” says Håkan Svedman, Country Manager IKEA Sweden.
