Danish household chain Imerco is turning upwards. 2015 was the best annual result ever, with a 23 percent growth in operating profit to 83 million DKK.

Now CEO Frederik Brønnum says the growth investments will constinue – and that the Swedish online store will be followed by physical stores.

Net sales rose to 1,094 million DKK, a growth of 62 million DKK compared to calendar year 2014. The organic growth was 5 percent.

“We put a new strategy for Imerco back in 2013, that we have continuously made the necessary changes with the clear objective of increasing gross profit margins, reduce costs and develop the chain. We have invested heavily in IT, online and physical stores. We have adjusted our range, with a greater focus on our own products combined with the most attractive brand products. All this has resulted in significantly improved profitability, and the pillars of our strategy is the foundation for accelerated growth in revenue and earnings in the coming years. ” says
Managing director Frederik Brønnum.

He adds that Imerco will continue to strengthen and expand its position in the Danish market, and achieve this by investments in new stores, optimization of the existing nationwide store network, own products, and in the customer loyalty club Imerco +.

”In the fall of 2015 opened Imerco a Swedish webshop and we are also considering to open physical stores initially in Sweden, ” he comments the financial report.

This would mean a comeback to Sweden after the bankruptcy in the early 2000’s. Then Imerco’s stores were mainly established in the south of Sweden.
