Today opens the first Starbucks located directly adjacent to an Ica store with the Swedish grocery chain as operator.

Ica Maxi in Haninge south of Stockholm will host a 145 square meters café.

The first Starbucks coffee shop in the context of cooperation between Ica and Starbucks offers customers the usual Starbucks range of coffee and self-made pastries, salads and sandwiches.

The café is built in an existing local adjacent to ICA Maxi in Haninge and has two entrances, one from the outside and one inside the Maxi store.

70 square meters consists of a cafe part with armchairs, traditional café tables and a long sofa. There will also be an outdoor unit.

”This is the real start of the long-term collaboration between Starbucks and Ica. It feels great and we believe strongly in the location next to Ica Maxi in Haninge. We are convinced that Starbucks presence will be appreciated by customers and strengthen the attractiveness of this retail location further,” says Anders Svensson, CEO of Ica Sweden AB.

A total of 15 posts has been appointed to drive the new Starbucks coffee shop.

”We are extremely excited about the opening of the first Starbucks coffee shop that takes place within the framework of cooperation with Ica. It demonstrates our commitment to further develop the retail channel in the Nordic countries and the EMEA region as a whole,” adds Arjan Oudejans, Vice President, Branded Solutions at Starbucks EMEA in a press release.
