Danish toy giant Lego reports a revenue increase of 13 percent to 28.6 billion DKK for 2014.  Net profit surged by 15 percent to 7.1 billion.

”I am proud that we have delivered creative high-quality play experiences to millions of children around the world. The result is very satisfactory, and it is our continuous ambition to be the best at what we do,” says Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, CEO. Director of the Lego Group, in a statement.

All the Lego Group’s market regions experienced double-digit sales growth, while the traditional toy market in most countries experienced low single-digit growth rates.

Lego City, Lego Star Wars and Lego Friends and the products launched in connection with The Lego Movie greatly contributed to the significant sales growth.

”Due to our continued focus on innovation and desire for global growth, we expect to grow moderately ahead of the market, while we are committed to a continued commitment to providing the best possible play experiences for children around the world,” said John Goodwin, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Lego.
