PostNord takes a big step on the Finnish market by acquiring Uudenmaan Pikakuljetus Oy (UPK) from Danish DSV.
The acquisition will increase PostNord’s Finnish operations by approximately a third.
”UPK’s and PostNord’s operations complement one another perfectly,” says Jari Rinnekoski, CEO of PostNord in Finland.
The acquisition significantly enhances PostNord’s position in Finland regarding domestic parcel deliveries, scheduled deliveries, health care and e-commerce logistics, as well as temperature-controlled transport services.
Uudenmaan Pikakuljetus Oy specialises in express parcel deliveries as well as scheduled and temperature-controlled transport services. Its other area of specialised expertise is health care logistics. In 2014, UPK had a turnover of approximately EUR 24 million and a staff of some 60 employees. The company maintains operations all over Finland and is renowned for its high quality.
”UPK’s and PostNord’s operations, terminals and transport networks complement one another perfectly. This will allow for effective increase of transport volumes, thus also improving delivery reliability. This, in turn, lays a solid foundation on which to further increase our business operations,” says Jari Rinnekoski, CEO of PostNord Oy.
”The increase in volume will improve our competitiveness and allow us to offer our customers higher quality and more comprehensive logistic services.
The acquisition requires the approval of the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority. PostNord expects the acquisition to be fully concluded by the beginning of September.
