S Group has seriously taken up the fight to offer Finland’s lowest food prices.
In a survey of Kuluttajaliitto, The Consumers’ Union of Finland, Prisma turns out as Lidl’s main challenger.
In a comparison of a smaller grocery with nine common basic products were Prisma and Lidl least expensive while Valintatalos stores the most expensive. In Jyväskylä the same goods cost 15.89 EUR at Prisma and 32.49 EUR in Valintatalo.
“Lidl’s arrival has lowered the commodity prices and provided more competition. Now it seems that the S group responded to the challenge and, in particular, Prisma is a dangerous competitor to Lidl, “says General Secretary of Kuluttajalitto, Juha Beurling.
He believes that competition will primarily benefit the residents of the metropolitan area.
The survey was conducted in stores in Kuopio, Jyväskylä and Helsinki in May 11 to 13.
