Kesko’s aquisition of Suomen Lähikauppa will be further examined by the Finnish Competition and Consumer Protection Office, KKV.
KKV believes Kesko might gain monopoly in local areas, but also the national impact on the grocery market will be examined.
And with one actor gone on the Finnish market, aquisitions will come into focus even more.
KKV, the Finnish Competition and Consumer Protection Office needs to find out in more detail about Kesko Food’s acquisition of Suomen Lähikauppa and what effects it will have on competition.
According to KKV, Kesko Food has an emerging monopoly in some areas for certain Suomen Lähikauppa owned Siwa outlets and Valintatalo stores.
The agency says in a statement it will intense its focus on acquisitions on the Finnish grocery market and its impacts both nationally and locally further as one national chain leaves the market.
”We’re focusing on the impact of both nationally competitive layup between the chains and Finnish Local Shop stores transaction areas.” KKV states.
