E- commerce continues to grow rapidly. One of the industries which in recent years has had great growth online is children’s products and toys.
The industry increased its sales by 31 percent in the first quarter of this year.
18 per cent of the total turnover of the industry can be related to e-commerce.
First quarter of 2014 online sales increased by 16 percent and above all it is industries that previously had limited online sales growing strongly.
Baby and toys is one of the sectors with the strongest growth in e-commerce and next to books and electronics, it is the sector that has the highest percentage of their sales through the Internet.
The industry had a turnover of 600 million online in 2013, according to E-barometern for the first quarter of 2014 published by Post North in collaboration with the Swedish Digital Trade Association and HUI Research.
“The sale of toys increases so sharp online because the online store is able to offer both a broader range and greater accessibility to their customers. As a physical toy store, it is harder to be as broad in your range, says Arne Andersson, e-commerce expert at PostNord.
The forecast for Swedish e-commerce is a turnover of 42.5 billion SEK in 2014.
