Mobilia shopping center in Malmö is letting out its rooftop for a large pre-school.
Atrium Ljungberg has, together with the City of Malmö found a solution for Malmö’s new municipal rooftop kindergarten.
The establishment of the pre-school should integrate Mobilia in the city and create a natural, vibrant city blocks of commercial, residential, restaurants and services.
Decisions on the nursery was taken in March 2015 and now, a year later it is time for the first kids to enter.
”Spinneriet kindergarten is Atrium Ljungberg’s first project with preschool on the roof of a commercial center and a good example of how city blocks can be densified. The solution creates value and an exciting environment of a normally relatively unattractive and poorly utilized roof area,” says Peter Svanberg, business developer Atrium Ljungberg.
Spinneriet is located in completely reconstructed premises on the second floor of Mobilia. The roof has now a 2 000 square meter green yard, distributed on two floors with different experience places.
The name Spinneriet is linked to the neighborhood’s history with textile factory in the 1890s until 1966. The four departments, one of which is the Finnish-speaking children, will offer preschool for a total of 72 children aged 0-6 years.
