Turun Osuuskaupassa’s negotiations regarding department store Sokos Wiklund as well as to reduce or close stores in the Emotion-chain, are now finished.
”During the negotiations, we’ve estimated Sokos Wiklund in different product areas, the role of selection and as a result we decided to abandon the Sokos department store’s smaller product areas, such as children’s dresses, toys, sports equipment, and consumer electronics. These product groups will have a more important role in the Prisma chain than the Sokos chain”, says Sokos department stores and Emotion stores chain director Janne Reunanen.
”In Emotion Loimaa we will focus on high-quality cosmetic products and Emotion stores operating in connection with Hyvä Olo will be closed. We’ve already decided to close Emotion Länsikeksus and the operation ends today 30 January.”
As a result of the negotiations 18 – 28 part time employments will end. The negotiations will cover a total of about 160 people from the Sokos Wiklund, Emotion Länsikeskus and Emotion Loimaa. At the beginning of the negotiations, it was estimated that the planned measures could have led to more than twenty terminations of employment and up to forty part-time employments.
”Maintaining competitiveness and business capabilities to secure operations require critical examination, and sometimes regrettable decisions. However, I am pleased that we are able to provide all personnel whose employment relationship comes to an end, new work inside the Turku Cooperative Society, says Janne Reunanen.
