DNB, Nets and Verifone has now signed an agreement that allows Norwegians to pay with contactless mobile payment solutions in store.
Before summer, Nets launches a solution for its payment terminals that open up for the use of mobile payment services. Vipps, with 1.2 million users, will be the first service that can be used.
The solution will be tested with Vipps in selected stores before the summer, and a broad rollout it is scheduled during the second half of 2016.
”This is a very important step for us in our plans for Vipps, and it is natural for us to continue the good cooperation we have with Nets, who have already helped us to process all Vipps transactions. We see strong demand from our residential and business customers to pay with Vipps in store. The solution we are launching with Nets enables us to offer to Vipps for goods in a fast, flexible and secure manner”, said Vipps director Rune Garbing at DNB.
Verifone already has a payment terminal that can easily be made ready to receive Vipps’ payments without upgrading or deploy new hardware.
Technology uses standard Bluetooth Low Energy where one hold the phone against the payment terminal and approve the amount by the phone.
